“You have to be around 12 seconds and under.”
Busby plans to use today’s women’s race as a “bit of fun” but she has serious business on the agenda over the next three weeks.
The 27-year-old’s efforts at Southport Sharks will come less than a month before she must scorch her way to a personal best to claim an unlikely Commonwealth Games team berth.
After spending three years training in London, Busby returned home last September with designs on cracking the Bqualifying time of 11.40sec at the Australian Titles at Carrara from February 15-18.
Despite injury setbacks, Busby hopes to give it a nudge. “I’ve got it in me,” she said. “It’s definitely there but it (the Commonwealth Games qualifiers) have come around so quickly that it’s snuck up on some people.
“We’ll see what can happen in three weeks.
“Comm Games was on the radar and things haven’t been running smoothly but it’s definitely not out of the picture.”
