I'm disgusted to read today that some parents are failing their children by sending them to school without leather shoes. It is commonly accepted practice for leather shoes to be worn in the workplace, for health and safety reasons. Schools are work places for not only teachers and other staff members but also for their students. As parents it is your job to ensure your child is equipped to benefit from the education being offered. So get them leather shoes so they won't be excluded from science, home economics, manual arts and other practical lessons. Retired, Molendinar

Re school uniforms. Nine years ago I took my six yearold granddaughter to a private school in Brisbane. Upon arriving I noticed a wee girl very distressed and crying. Her older brother was comforting her. When asked why he replied that she didn’t have the correct colour hair tie. All fixed in a couple of minutes. The look of gratitude on her face was priceless.

Well said Rhonda W. I have been in two relationships now that have been with aggressive women and the second one made threats of taking me for my money from the sale of my house. The courts also need to stop these women from talking things that don't belong to them especially when not a dime of their money paid for any of it.
