Toyota 86 selection opens door for Feeney
GOLD Coast teenager Broc Feeney has secured a mighty step up in his motorsport career, earning a debut in the Toyota 86 Racing Series in April.
Feeney last year won the Junior KA2 Karting Championship and represented Australia at international meets in France, Portugal and the United States.
At 15, he will become one of the youngest debutants in the series’ history.
“The Toyota 86 Racing Series is one of the most competitive and cost-effective categories of racing in Australia and I’m excited that I have this opportunity to join the series and use it as a platform for my career in the sport,” Feeney said.
“The Toyota 86 racing is always entertaining and with the television package and interest in the category, it provides an excellent springboard to transition into circuit racing from karting, to learn the circuits and be backed up by a professional organisational team and company like Toyota.”
Adding to the excitement, Feeney will steer the car that took Will Brown to the 2016 championship.
Brown has since progressed to win the 2017 Mike Kable Young Gun award and this year will be a Supercars endurance co-driver for Erebus Motorsport.
On top of the Toyota 86 Racing Series – which is to be held over six rounds – Feeney will also compete in senior karts in the KA1 national classification.
