Struggling roller derby club skates into sunset

-

WORLD-RANKED Gold Coast roller derby club Paradise City Roller Derby has skated for the last time.

The female team, who in 2016 skated in the world championships in the US, announced on social media the league “that could” was now the “league that can’t anymore”.

A former member told the Bulletin Paradise City was forced to fold after struggling to keep members in 2017 because training days changed and they lost their home ground. In 2016, the club was forced to leave the Nerang PCYC and had to train between two venues.

“Thank you to all our members, past and present, on and off skates,” the club shared on its Facebook page. “Thank you to our local leagues, and the wider derby community. Goodnight. Farewell. Peace out.”
