Charges for quartet amid claim over cobalt

RACING Victoria stewards have laid 19 charges against four separate training operations over the alleged illegal use of excess cobalt.

Terry and Karina O’Sullivan are facing a total of nine charges, after their horses Darragh (twice) and Gold A Plenty tested positive to excess levels of cobalt during the 2015 and 2016 seasons.

Monica Croston faces three charges after Hezza Tidal Wave returned a urine sample containing cobalt in excess of the permitted threshold of 200 micrograms per litre in June 2016.

Matthew Leek will answer four charges relating to Champagne Kisses returning a sample containing cobalt in excess of the permitted threshold in March 2016.

Trevor J. Andrews faces three charges after Coppola returned a sample containing excess cobalt in December 2016. All charges will be heard by the Racing Appeals and Disciplina­ry Board on a date to be fixed.
