NEW SKIN IN TATTOO SHOP GAME

- EMILY SELLECK

A TATTOO company touted as one of the best in the world has opened a shop in Surfers Paradise.

Celebrity Ink opened in the Paradise Centre this week and CEO Mitch Costello, 31, said the store would be targeted at tourists.

“This is our first Australian store. We chose the Gold Coast because the owner lives up this way,” he said.

“We’re also opening in Southport at Australia Fair and in Coomera.”

The business, which started in Phuket, has become one of the region’s most successful.

“It started with four artists and now we have more than 70,” Mr Costello said.

“We were ranked sixth in the world by thisistattoo.com.”

Mr Costello said the brand’s reputation was what kept customers coming through the door. “It’s like when you’re buying from Maccas, you know that you’re getting the best quality,” he said.
