Tired of shopping? Just hail this cab

- KRISTY MUIR

NO NEED to shop till you drop, now you can hail a cab to get around Pacific Fair.

The six-seater electric taxi will help shoppers navigate the huge Broadbeach centre.

Shopper Liang-Zi Carr, 24, of Surfers Paradise couldn’t wait to test out the taxi ahead of today’s launch. “I’m a Gold Coast local and have always shopped at Pacific Fair, so I love that they’re the first to introduce something like this,” she said.

“I’m excited to use it, especially when you’re going from one side to the other, it’ll make life easier and much more fun.

“The fact that they’re driving around all the time is great, because I wouldn’t book it, but if it’s going past why not jump on. It’s also going to be a great photo for social media, no doubt about that.”

Pacific Fair Shopping Centre senior centre manager Steven Ihm said the taxi was built to make shopping easier.

“The Taxi will be out and about regularly in the centre and we’re encouraging customers to hail it down and grab a lift to the next shop, or maybe to lunch,’ Mr Ihm said.

“The Taxi will run regularly throughout the centre for all customers, but can be prearranged to assist groups or those that require mobility assistance.
