Swimmer’s body found

-

A BODY believed to be a 33year-old woman who went missing while swimming in the Broadwater was last night found by emergency services.

The woman, a tourist from Asia, was found in the water at Bums Bay at Main Beach, three hours after she was last sighted by friends.

Around 5pm the woman went into the water while her friends were fishing on the sand at Main Beach, but she never returned to shore.

The woman reportedly had a mask and snorkel with her when she entered the water.

Her friends raised the alarm and a land and sea search was conducted by Gold Coast Water Police, Polair, Volunteer Marine Rescue, Surfers Paradise Police Station officers and the police dive squad from Brisbane.

The search ended with the discovery of a body around 8pm last night. TAMMY Richie describes it as the walk no parent ever wants to make.

“I was hoping to find him painting the walls with my make-up but I had to take that walk to the pool,” the Mudgeeraba mum says of the 2007 day her 16-month-old son Carson drowned — and survived.
