Residents to have say on budget

-

MAYOR Tom Tate is urging residents to provide input on the City’s budget to ensure the Gold Coast does not suffer from a post-Games hangover.

“People are saying it’s the Mayor’s budget. I’m saying it’s the people’s budget,” Councillor Tate said yesterday as he launched a round of budget community consultation.

“For the past six years, we’ve kept rate increases to record lows. Your feedback is about ensuring the right decisions are made in delivering a balanced budget.

“We can’t have a post Games economic hangover so the next budget is critical to capitalise on the growth, infrastructure and legacy of the Commonwealth Games.

“I am working with councillors now to finalise their ideas on what we can achieve, in a post Games economy. That information, and feedback from residents, will shape the 2018-19 budget.’’

Consultation closes on March 29 with the budget delivered mid-June. Residents can have their say on the budget by going to gchaveyoursay.com.au/budget1819.
