Griffith enhances MBA credentials
GRIFFITH University students will be the first in Australia and New Zealand to receive accreditation with the Institute of Managers and Leaders when they complete a Masters of Business Administration.
The accreditation will give fast-tracked access to the globally-recognised chartered manager designation.
Students can graduate with an additional diploma in strategic management and leadership, allowing them to apply for and receive the CMgr designation within weeks of receiving their MBA.
The Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership from the Chartered Management Institute, will further prove student’s practical leadership skills and ability to effectively implement modern management theory in the workplace.
It means they will be exempt from the rigorous assessment process they would otherwise go through to be chartered.
The chartered manager designation is the highest status that can be achieved as a management professional and is conferred by the Privy Council in London, UK.
Griffith MBA students will also be granted affiliate membership of the institute, giving them access to the institute’s professional development services and mentoring programs.
IML chief executive David Pich said leadership wasn’t just about knowing, it was about doing.
“Good management and leadership doesn’t just happen by accident,” he said.
“Good managers – like good lawyers and good accountants – need to prove their competence and skill and now they can do this by becoming chartered.
“Our partnership with Griffith puts Griffith MBA students on the fast track to that chartered designation.”
Griffith University pro vice-chancellor for business, Professor David Grant said the collaboration opened new opportunities for students.
“Their qualifications will reflect their experience of studying on a rigorously accredited program promoting values and attributes that are important to not only Griffith Business School but also IML,” he said.
