OF all the “thought bubbles”

-

about The Spit that have been floated like empty balloons by Mayor Tom Tate and his mates in recent times, the suggestion to split The Spit promoted on Tate’s behalf by Lindsay Jackson (as described in the GCB, 3/2/2018) must take the cake for being the silliest.

His plan is divisive in more ways than one as he follows his “divide and rule” method of wrecking The Spit.

Why should the so-called greenies have to finance their half, when other parks are maintained by the Waterways Authority or the Council? Meanwhile they are expected to hand over the right to the lovely view of the Broadwater from the western shore south of Sea World to highrise developers.

The conservationists are trying to create a place for all residents and visitors, not divide the community like this. Another insult is Jackson’s notion that 40 storeys is not too high – he’s got to be joking.

The whole plan as described by Tate’s mate looks in fact like a tired repetition of the offerings re The Spit and Wave Break Island promoted by ASF, by Sunland with their inappropriate towers and the now-discredited Tate-promoted cruise ship terminal.

Incidentally, ratepayers are still waiting for full details of the expensive report showing why the CST should not proceed. They deserve better than this.
