Space for lease at Courthouse pub

- ALISTER THOMSON

THE new owners of Southport’s Courthouse Hotel have embarked on a leasing campaign, marketing the wellknown CBD pub as suited to a range of uses.

The 51-53A Nerang St property, which occupies a prominent position on the corner of Nerang and Davenport streets, was sold last year for $4.07 million by an entity linked to Hot Tomato radio station chief Hans Torv.

Not much is known about the new owners other than that they are understood to be from Sydney with connections to Korea.

The pub has remained empty for more than two years after closing in 2015.

It consists of two kitchens, three bars, and has a gross floor area of 1395sq m over two levels.

The 1631sq m block contains 22 car parks.

Colliers International’s James Crawford, who is handling the leasing for the building along with colleague Kelly Buxton, said the property lends itself to a wide range of industries including medical, retail and education.

“It is still ideally suited to becoming a pub but if someone wanted to open a medical suite or training room, the zoning is flexible,” he said.

“The building can be broken into smaller chunks. We may piece some of the different users together or lease it in one line.”

Space in the building, opposite a light rail station and China Town, is being marketed through an expressions of interest campaign that closes on March 8 at 4pm.
