ROYAL WEDDING TAKES A BACK SEAT TO CUP FINAL

-

IF Prince Harry and Meghan Markle hadn’t won over the hearts of a nation already they surely have now after ensuring their big day won’t clash with arguably Britain’s most popular sporting event.

The couple will have the eyes of the world on them on May 19 when they tie the knot at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, the same day as the FA Cup Final. And they have kept football fans onside by announcing their nuptials will begin at noon, hours before the match kicks off at 5.30pm.

The news came as the duo confirmed they will venture out into the streets in a horsedrawn carriage after exchanging vows – in much the same way as Harry’s parents and brother have done. They will then hold a reception at St George’s Hall in the castle.

As president of the Football Association, Harry’s older brother usually attends the FA Cup Final and presents the trophy. But this year, William, who is tipped to be Harry’s best man, looks likely to be otherwise engaged with wedding duties.
