SUMMARY

Expect several days of smallersca­le E swell and localised NE windswell prevailing today and tomorrow under predominan­t northerly winds. A long-range E groundswel­l generated by TC Gita arrives throughout Thursday and Friday before speculativ­ely peaking this weekend at a heavy 6 to 10ft.

TODAY

Smaller ESE swell mixing with slight NE windswell at around 2ft exposed breaks, grading to 1 to 2ft at best inside the points and bays. WIND: Early light NNW tending NNE 10 to 15 knots.

TOMORROW

Background E swell mixing with NE windswell around 2ft exposed open beaches. Wrapping at lower levels inside the points and bays. WIND: Early lighter NNW to WNW 10 to 15 knots tending N 15 to 20 knots during the day.

THURSDAY

Leading edge of E groundswel­l generated by Tropical Cyclone Gita gradually fills in. Slow sets around 1 to 2ft exposed breaks early , picking up to an

inconsiste­nt 2 to 3ft during the afternoon, possibly towards 3 to 4ft late. Wrapping at lower levels inside the points and bays. WIND: Early light NNW to WNW, possibly tending variable ahead of a weak SSE to ESE change, otherwise remaining NE 10 to 15 knots in the afternoon.

FRIDAY

Long period E groundswel­l generated by Tropical Cyclone Gita builds in. Ranging from 4 to 6ft+ exposed coasts early, building towards 6 to 8ft+ during the afternoon. Wrapping at lower levels inside the points and bays with size depending on exposure. WIND: Early light N to NW tending NE 5 to 15 knots during the afternoon.

SATURDAY

Heavy E groundswel­l generated by Tropical Cyclone Gita. Potential for 6 to 10ft sets along exposed beaches, wrapping at anywhere from 4 to 8ft inside the points and bays. WIND: Early light and variable SSW inshore, tending variable, then E to SE 5 to 15 knots during the afternoon.
