Man’s heartfelt gesture

- KRISTY MUIR

A FORMERLY homeless Gold Coast man will hand out 100 red roses to strangers for Valentine’s Day this morning.

The heartfelt gesture has gone viral online after wedding videographer Lance Smith shared the story of his chance encounter with Cameron at Nobby Beach.

Cameron, who lived for two years at The Spit, was selling copies of The Big Issue when Mr Smith sat down for a chat with him. “I just like to see the joy and smile on people’s faces,” Cameron told Mr Smith of his plans for the roses.

Yesterday Mr Smith drove Cameron to Aldi and they bought 100 roses for $100 and he will drive him to the Nobby Beach shops (outside The Shack Superfood Cafe) this morning to give them out.

“I bought 50 and he bought 50,” Mr Smith, who runs Box Media House, told the Bulletin.

Cameron will be selling The Big Issue and giving away roses for Valentine’s Day from 7.30am. “He’s a beautiful human with a massive heart and a lot of roses,” Mr Smith said.
