Gold Coast treated to another spectacular lightning show

A SPECTACULAR lightning display lit up the Gold Coast last night.

It was the second big storm in three days on the Coast but it wasn’t good news for everybody.

A Carrara home was struck by lightning at 7pm with the hit turning the street from night to day.

Neighbour Steve Ross said he and his neighbour would assess the house in the morning to see if there was any damage.

“(I) was taking pictures on my balcony when a lightning bolt struck the house 30 metres across the road,” he said

“It is pitch black and you wouldn’t think it (when you see the photo). The energy it gave off was amazing.”

Meanwhile Southport local Katherine Stuart took an epic shot of a lightning strike with the city’s skyline in the background.

The avid photographer said she had her camera out for about 15 minutes and got 50 shots. “(The) storm was visually spectacular,” she said.

“I am very spoilt with the view from my balcony as I can see the lightning over our city and (last night’s storm) was an amazing show.

“I always get my camera out if there is a storm as I love to see what shots I can get.”
