QUEENSLAND LOOKS ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

- PETER BEATTIE

QUEENSLAND has its mojo back.

The recently-released Suncorp CCIQ Pulse survey confirmed as much, reporting optimism has returned for the first time in four years.

The quarterly survey pinpointed GC2018, political stability from a majority government and strong commodity prices as the reason for the mood swing.

Here on the Gold Coast it’s everywhere from the commercial and residential construction going on, the vibrant tourism sector, the coffee culture, our diversity and the economic opportunities already coming off the back of GC2018.

Local artists are also riding a huge wave right now, with the recentlycompleted Home of the Arts (HOTA) outdoor amphitheatre at Bundall allowing local and visiting performing artists to show their talents like never before.

Our Festival 2018 – a major artistic injection presented in this city as a partnership between GOLDOC and the City of Gold Coast – continues to grow.

Indeed, as we put the final touches to the largest international event in Australia in a decade and with so much activity happening all around us, it’s not too early to look forward to the many future benefits that the Games will bring to the Gold Coast, Queensland and Australia.

Confidence breeds confidence and the relative youth of our city means that sensible and well-considered investment is met with the enthusiasm of a community ready to grow and step out into the world.

GC2018 has been a big part of this confidencebuilding for the past seven years and it is just so important that we plan ahead to ensure the momentum continues long after the Closing Ceremony.

IT IS JUST SO IMPORTANT THAT WE PLAN AHEAD TO ENSURE THE MOMENTUM CONTINUES LONG AFTER THE CLOSING CEREMONY

We can all be a part of that through being positive, supportive of progress and simply “giving it a go”.

In just 49 days, you’ll see it in the faces of each and every one of our 15,000 excited Games Shapers, who can’t wait for the world to arrive and for the action to begin.

Already they optimise everything great about this wonderful city and the great days ahead.

So let’s join with them and Share the Dream.
