GOLD COAST BULLETIN Tuesday, February 3, 1987

A YOUNG Gold Coast woman was tied up, had her hair cut off and was drugged before being abducted and taken to a NSW town, the Southport Magistrates Court heard.

The woman’s girlfriend was charged over the incident, which happened a week earlier.

The 28-year-old Coombabah woman was charged with assault causing bodily harm of her partner.

The Coombabah woman was also charged with giving her partner stupefying drugs and depriving her of her liberty by carrying her away in a motor car against her will and unlawful use of a car.

Police prosecutor Senior Sergeant Ken Waterfield told the court the two women had formed a relationship at a Coombabah house.

Sen Sgt Waterfield said it would be alleged the woman puncher her partner, a nursing sister, and tied her hands and feet together.

She then cut off the other woman’s hair with scissors before forcing her to take the stupefying drugs tuinol and Normison, the court heard.

The nurse was unconscious when the other woman allegedly placed her in a car and drove her to Glen Innes where she was left at a hospital.

Sen Sgt Waterfield said the woman had refused to answer any questions when police arrived to arrest her at the Coombabah house.

In opposing bail, the police officer told the court the accused woman had failed to appear in a Victorian court on a 1983 charge of loitering for the purpose of prostitution and had other convictions for similar offences. The accused woman was remanded in custody.
