Man gets hot and bothered over cold coffee

-

A MAN let his hot temper get the better of him and threw his McDonald’s coffee on the floor just because it was cold, a court has heard.

Alek Tandli, 46, threw a tantrum at the Southport McDonald’s about 10pm on January 31 because his coffee was cold after he left it on the bench for three minutes, the Southport Magistrates Court was told.

Tandli pleaded guilty to public nuisance and obstructing police over the incident.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Doug Bettany said after throwing the coffee on the floor Tandli began to scream at the staff.

“Why can’t you do your (expletive) job,” Sgt Bettany said Tandli yelled.

Tandli kicked a door on the way out and left in a taxi.

When police stopped the taxi in Biggera Waters, Tandli struggled with them, breaking one of the officer’s mobile phones.

Defence lawyer Sam Jackson, of Bamberry Lawyers, said Tandli was under a lot of stress and was heavily intoxicated at the time.

Magistrate Clare Kelly placed Tandli on a $500 good behaviour bond for 12 months, ordered he completed a drug and alcohol program by the end of next month and fined him $450.

No convictions were recorded.
