MEET THE NATIVES AT DAISY

-

DAISY HILL CONSERVATION PARK

IF you’re looking for a day in the great outdoors, it doesn’t get much fresher than this Daisy.

And if it’s native wildlife you want to see, you’ll definitely find your thrill on this Hill.

Protecting 571ha of open eucalypt forest just north of the Gold Coast, Daisy Hill Conservation Park provides refuge for koalas and city slickers alike.

Featuring a network of shared trails, visitors can bushwalk, cycle or even horse ride through the park, but one of the best hikes has to be the Buhot Creek Circuit.

This trail starts from the upper day-use area and allows you to explore both Daisy Hill Conservation Park and the adjoining Neville Lawrie Reserve. Take time by tranquil waterholes and enjoy views from the old quarry.

Home to a wide variety of native animals and insects, you will be immediately surrounded by birdsong once on the circuit.

Keep a keen eye out for sleepy koalas, as well as spotted red-necked and swamp wallabies along the rocky terrain.

The circuit is a level 3 walking track with a formed track and some long, graduating hills. The walk to the quarry is approximately 3km.

Filled with water, the old quarry is now a legit lake, filled with lillypads and hours of entertainment for the kids.

A picnic bench above the quarry offers priceless views for a lunchtime meal, and on a quiet day it can feel a million miles from civilisation, despite technically still being a part of suburban Brisbane.
