Sam sticks to his roots in England

-

HIS wife and daughter are Aussies. He calls Sydney home and wants to remain in Australia for good.

And he also hopes to whack a few Poms tomorrow night. But don’t dare ask whether Sam Burgess regards himself as English or Australia. He will bristle.

“Are you kidding – it that a real question? I’m as English as it gets,” Burgess said. “My grandad would turn in his grave if he ever heard me say I wanted to be Australian.”

Australians may now regard Burgess as one of their own but the South Sydney star will never surrender his English heritage.

That proud culture will be tested tomorrow evening when South Sydney confront Wigan at a full-blown trial match at ANZ Stadium.
