Injured Seagulls to put their feet up

- CONNOR O’BRIEN

TWEED Heads have given a number of leading Intrust Super Cup players battling niggling injuries extra time to prepare for their first taste of match play in 2018.

Incumbent skipper Sam Meskell, Lamar Liolevave, Jack Cook, Shane Gillham, Beau Cordtz and Kieran Tarrant will all miss the club’s trial against Souths Logan tomorrow.

Coach Ben Woolf has named a new-look side to take on the Magpies with Ali Grant returning to the club at fullback, bumping young gun Jayden Baker to the wing.

Lindon McGrady has retained the No.6 and will join Eli Levido in the halves.

Among the other familiar faces are back-rowers Tristan Lumley and Sam Saville, while Jesse Malcolm has been listed to start at prop after switching from Burleigh in the off-season.

Woolf said some players in the club’s A-grade trial beforehand are also in contention for ISC jerseys, with the former Gold Coast under-20 coach spreading his roster to get a close look at various options.
