Ute driver trapped

A DRIVER was trapped in his vehicle for half an hour after a crash on the Pacific Hwy near Brunswick Heads yesterday.

Around 2am yesterday, a Mitsubishi ute collided with a B-double truck in the northbound lanes near Gulgan Rd.

The B-double driver continued on to the opposite side of the road before rolling. The truck driver escaped uninjured.

The 38-year-old driver of the ute was trapped in for half an hour before being released.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter landed on the motorway and treated the man for head, arm and chest injuries.

He was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital with nonlife threatenin­g injuries.
