Stabbed in money row
A MAN stabbed a friend in the stomach and threatened his mother because the friend pocketed money given to him to hire a car, a court has heard.
Benjamin Black, 37, was denied bail in the Southport Magistrates Court yesterday where he faces a raft of charges including attempt to cause grievous bodily harm, possession of dangerous drugs, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and multiple breaches of bail.
The court heard Black allegedly approached his friend, Christopher Webster, in his Palm Beach home on February 12 after giving him money to hire a car. Police will allege that when Black found out the car had not been hired, he stabbed Mr Webster in the stomach before threatening Mr Webster’s mother.
The court heard Black was on bail at the time of the stabbing and was supposed to appear in Noosa Magistrates Court on the same day.
Magistrate Mark Howden said the charges were “serious” and denied Black bail.
The matters were until next month. adjourned
