Fears over illegal guns

-

PEOPLE who fail police background checks are benefiting from Queensland’s illegal gun trade, industry leaders claim.

Figures released by police this month show the number of firearms being stolen in Queensland annually has doubled since 2009. “A lot of guns end up being sold to people without a gun licence – people who couldn’t pass the background checks and tests,” Shooters Union Queensland president Graham Park said. “It’s concerning.”
