Straight in the action for Aussies
AUSTRALIA will feature on the opening day of beach volleyball competition at the Commonwealth Games.
The 36-match round robin fixture was yesterday released, with Australia’s women to face Cyprus in the afternoon of April 6 before the host nation’s men’s side take on Fiji in the last match of the evening.
The pre-finals matches will be held across four days, with quarter-finals being played on April 10, semi-finals the following day and medal matches on April 12.
GOLDOC chairman Peter Beattie hailed the release as another step closer to beach volleyball’s highly anticipated debut at the Games.
“There is a great deal of enthusiasm about the beach volleyball featuring for the first time at a Commonwealth Games at GC2018,” he said.
“The finalisation of the match schedule brings fans and athletes another step closer to being a part of the biggest event in Australia this decade.”
All tickets – more than 60,000 – have been sold but spectators are now being offered premium hospitality packages priced from $300 per person.
