Roads shut for big race

BUSY Gold Coast roads will be closed to traffic this weekend as more than 2000 competitors pound the pavement.

The Gold Coast Triathlon will be held on Sunday with the event beginning and ending at Mitchell Park in Southport.

Motorists are being advised to avoid the area from 4am until after midday as multiple roads will be closed to traffic.

Roads are closed on Sunday from 4am to 12pm midday at:

• Bayview St from Jennifer Ave to Land’s End Bridge.

• Marine Pde from Land’s End Bridge, Biggera Waters to Brisbane Rd, Biggera Waters

• Gold Coast Hwy from Brisbane Rd, Biggera Waters to Broad St, Labrador

• Frank St from Broad St, Labrador to Loders Creek Bridge, Labrador

• Gold Coast Hwy from Loders Creek Bridge, Labrador to North St, Southport
