WHY did respected Gold Coast Show Society stalwart Slim Boese earlier this month resign as president?

When asked by your columnist, he replied: “Unfortunately if I talk about it, if I told anyone about it, I would be sued. I don’t want to lose my house, my wife and my home because of the show society.”

Mr Boese offered no more comment, and that was the beginning and end of our conversation.

On the Show Facebook site, a post followed announcing with “regret” that he had resigned. “Slim was made a life member at the last AGM in recognition of his hard work and unwavering support for the Gold Coast Show Society, he will be sorely missed by the current committee who thank him on behalf of the society for his long and valuable contribution.”

What went down here? We may never know.
