“They survive and there’s no doubt we will (too),” Mr Peters said of gridlock traffic fears.

GOLDOC chairman Peter Beattie urged spectators and Gold Coast residents to map out their journey planner in the month and a half before the 10 day April event.

Mr Beattie said although the online Journey Planner was a “nitpicker’s dream” he urged Gold Coast residents and spectators to use local knowledge and common sense while travelling to games locations.

He said spectators should aim to arrive at least an hour before sessions began and travel light to avoid wasting time lining up to enter venues because backpacks would be searched.

“We also encourage people to plan a little extra travel time to make sure they get where they want to go without having to rush,” Mr Beattie said.
