Delays for commuters

-

DAMAGED power lines and a track fault caused major delays for southeast Queensland’s peak-hour rail commuters yesterday morning.

Delays reached more than an hour due to broken wires on the Gold Coast line before buses were brought in to replace suspended train services at some stations.

Passengers were also left frustrated in the afternoon when a track fault at Fortitude Valley resulted in 20-minute delays on several lines and two services cancelled.

Train services were also cancelled before afternoon peak hour due to the earlier power line problem.

Beenleigh and Gold Coast line trains were suspended in both directions, with buses replacing trains from 9am to 3pm while crews fixed the broken wires. The Airport line was also affected.
