A serious upgrade at Gold Coast Airport long overdue
I was interested in the article ‘Bursting Terminal A Trial Run For Games’ dated 21 Feb 2018.
As a frequent traveller of many years to the Gold Coast who uses the Gold Coast airport, I have long held the view that the airport is overdue for a serious upgrade.
I thought with the announcment that the 2018 Commonwealth Games were to be held on the Gold Coast that it would be the perfect opportunity to do upgrades but alas it hasn’t happened.
As stated in the article the airport is experiencing record passenger numbers. The queues to the gates are always overcrowded with people waiting to board their flight and this makes it difficult for the passengers arriving to clear the area quickly.
The permanent population on the Gold Coast is growing with people retiring to the Coast and also tourism is growing. Don’t we need a modern two-level airport to cope with the demand?
Come on Chris Mills CEO of Queensland Airports Ltd. Why can’t we have what the Gold Coast desparately needs, better infrastructure and modern facilities for a growing city.
