CUP GAZE IS FIXED

-

AFTER another frustrating Melbourne near-miss, Kathy O’Hara is optimistic Single Gaze can break through in next month’s Australian Cup.

Single Gaze added another runner-up finish to her Victorian resume with a brave second in Saturday’s Group 2 Peter Young Stakes at Caulfield behind Gailo Chop.

The mare ran second to Boom Time in the Caulfield Cup in the spring and again two starts ago to Hartnell in the Orr Stakes.

O’Hara is convinced Single Gaze can bridge the gap to Gailo Chop, who is TAB’s clear $3.50 favourite for the Australian Cup at Flemington on March 10.

“She was very tough,” O’Hara said after the 1800m Peter Young. It will be a different story at Flemington at 2000m.
