BIKIE MATE ‘LOVED UP’

- RYAN KEEN REPORTS

A FORMER bikie associate shot by police on Sunday was happily loved up with his girlfriend in the lead up to his death, despite being subject to a police domestic violence order.

Liam Scorsese, who died outside a Brisbane home believed to be where his girlfriend was living, is shown on Facebook in recent months showering the woman in gifts.

Scorsese’s lawyer Ashkan Tai said his client and his girlfriend “had rekindled” and eight days before Scorsese was killed, the woman posted a photo of them, wishing him a happy birthday.

A GOLD Coast man fatally shot by police on Sunday was happily loved up with his girlfriend just weeks ago, but was also subject to a police domestic violence application.

Loved ones are mourning 31-year-one Liam Scorsese who died after being shot at an emergency call-out to a Brisbane home believed to be where his girlfriend was living. Police have said the residents – described as “fearful” – phoned triple-0 to say he was armed and enraged outside.

Just eight days before he was killed, his girlfriend had posted a photo of them, wishing him a happy birthday.

She also recently shared how her mum messaged her about a baby shoes website, posting “dropping hints much”. A loved one of Scorsese comments: “We are all waiting guys, get the baby making.”

Other posts and videos from a month ago show the pair happy and laughing, with him showering her in gifts including roses, a teddy bear, candles and a watch.

Scorsese’s lawyer Ashkan Tai said the domestic violence application was put in place by police and was nothing to do with his girlfriend.

It stemmed from a December 2016 incident when Scorsese had to be restrained on the way to hospital after a Broadbeach Waters car accident when he abused police and paramedics.

“He gets emotional. There was no condition that they couldn’t have contact. He never breached it ever either,” Mr Tai said.

Despite reports of a split, Mr Tai said Scorsese and his girlfriend “had rekindled” but he couldn’t shed light on what sparked the incident on Sunday and the call to police.

“I don’t know much at this stage and the family are pretty shattered.”

Scorsese’s girlfriend uploaded a photo of the pair to Facebook soon after his death, writing: “The pain is unbearable, the suffering unimaginable. 4 Years wasn’t enough, it wasn’t the lifetime u promised me or yourself, now your gone.”

His grieving mother commented: “A beautiful photo of you and my boy. He looks so happy. I love him so much and my heart has broken like your heart. We can help to console and heal each other. My darling girl.”

Mr Tai revealed Scorsese had called him the night before he was shot enthusiastic about doing a new education course.

He had been training and working with his dad since his release from prison in November for the brutal assault of a tourist bus driver in Surfers Paradise.

Police have described him as a bikie associate, with a rap sheet including possession of testosterone, being pinged for using counterfeit money at Broadbeach’s casino and stabbing himself after the 2016 traffic accident drama.

The Ethical Standards Command is investigating Scorsese’s fatal shooting. Police said a taser was “activated” before an officer shot him twice, once in the neck.
