ROBINA business owners say deliveries arriving on time is among their main concerns for the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Café owner Fleur Greig of Café Nsane said she hoped the event wouldn’t have a “vacuous effect” on locals in the area.

“I know a lot of people are just trying to get out during the Games but for us it’s business as usual,” she said.

“We are concerned about (food) supply because there will be so much demand from the Commonwealth Games and there’s been talk of people getting their deliveries in the middle of the night because there’s really no other time.”

ChemPro Chemist Easy T owner Daniel Marshall said he was placing big orders and having them delivered after dark.

“It’s a bit of a waiting game because nobody knows what to expect or what will happen (during the Games),” he said.

“Unless you’re getting onto the M1 the traffic is well managed at Robina. I’m not too worried, I actually walk to work.”

Chaos on the roads and hour-long delays were a “real worry” for Pool Werx Owner Vanessa Parker.

“We’re a mobile service and we have people technicians based out on the road,” she said.

“Because the city is at full occupancy I suspect we will be quite busy getting called out to jobs.

“I think it’s a great event for the city so we’re just going to have to adapt as best we can.”

A number of people, including Rebekah Jurgeleit, 23, of CocoLuscious Ice Cream said she would be “staying away”.

“I might just live in our factory out at Burleigh,” she laughed.

“I’ll definitely be staying away, probably hibernating.

“I’m sure the Games will be great but I’m not all that keen, I don’t know anybody who is excited about it.”

Surfers Paradise local Michelle Jedra said she would still be working in Brisbane a few days each week.

“There’s been a lot of talk about the M1 so I’m just planning to leave a few hours early,” she said.

“People like to complain about the Games but we’ve had our roads improved and the community is cleaner.

“The only downside is that renters are being booted from their apartments, particularly in Surfers.

“Some people are making up to $4000 for renting out an apartment over the two weeks, I know plenty of renters who Chempro Easy T
