Heart risk for women
WOMEN are up to three times more likely to die from a heart attack than men because doctors are thought to see heart disease as a male problem.
This means women are denied lifesaving treatment. Heart disease kills four times more Australian women than breast cancer.
But a study has revealed that hundreds of women die every year because they do not get the same treatment as men.
British researchers found women were 24 per cent less likely to be prescribed cholesterol-busting statins, which could prevent heart attacks.
