‘I’ll be back’: Matt says to Maroons

-

PROP Matt Scott has bucked representative retirement suggestions and will be gunning for maroon this year.

Scott is out to regain his mantle as the world’s best front row forward and break back into the State of Origin arena.

His return from a knee reconstruction has been so impressive that Scott has declared he has no mental scars from the injury which crushed his 2017 season.

Scott ruptured his ACL in last year’s Round 2 derby against the Broncos and missed the rest of the season as the Cowboys reached the NRL grand final.

Scott will turn 33 this season but the 22-game Queensland legend will be back to boost Kevin Walters’ Maroons after missing last year’s entire Origin series. “I’d love to play rep footy again,” Scott said.

“It’s really hard to know how I’m going to go over the next couple of months of footy.

‘‘The Queensland boys did a great job last year and there are a couple of young front rowers that did a great job.

“Hopefully I can play well and squeeze back into the side somewhere.’’ In his absence Walters ushered in a new generation of forwards.
