Groves still in doubt for trials

MADELINE Groves may have beaten a FINA doping panel ban but the Rio Olympic swimming medallist may still miss this week’s Commonwealth Games selection trials.

Australian coach Jacco Verhaeren said the champion butterflyer had entered the trials but it remained to be seen if Groves, 22, contested them after a tough lead-up.

“I think with her we will see on the day,” Verhaeren said of the Rio 200m butterfly silver medallist’s chances.
