Talented field for ultimate contest

PROFESSION­AL fields continue to strengthen for the inaugural Qantas Golf Club Gold Coast Challenge at Links Hope Island from March 12-13.

The event boasts groups of four players, including one male PGA profession­al, one female ALPG player and two amateurs in a unique tournament experience.

High-profile players Peter Senior, Dimi Papadatos, Matt Millar, Steven Jeffress and James Nitties have signed up.

Victorian Open champion Simon Hawkes has also joined a deep men’s field playing for $30,000 in the Pro-Am section of the tournament.

The women will also play for $30,000, with a tour field boasting several internatio­nals including New Zealand’s Cathryn Bristow and world longdrive record holder Phillis Meti as well as Scotland’s Michele Thomson.

Aussie stars include Sarah Kemp, Whitney Kemp and Stephanie Na, who recorded a hole in one at the Australian Open last week.
