Injured Bevan on board in support

-

DEAN Bevan’s intimate knowledge of the break at Kingscliff will come in handy at the Australian Longboard Surfing Open … for everyone else.

The local has dominated the competition in various categories over a years, yet a busted knee – and looming reconstruction – means Bevan’s skills will benefit only those who could have been his rival.

Not one to sit idle, Bevan will work with other surfers at the ongoing competition.

“It’s disappointing that he can’t be out there; he is such a tough customer and hard to beat on his home break,” event organiser Sean Mckeown said.

“But on the plus side, we have drafted him to help out with the event this year as the competitor liaison and his knowledge is invaluable.”
