Fresh ticket bungle hits organisers

GAMES organisers have been forced to defend another administrative bungle after a Brisbane woman was sent the wrong tickets.

The Keperra woman who asked not to be named provided details of the ticketing error to the State Opposition which launched another attack on the Government.

The woman told the Bulletin: “I ordered four closing ceremony tickets and received six swimming tickets addressed to someone else (in Launceston).

“That was $600 spent on four tickets as a gift for my partner and parents for the closing ceremony. I was pretty upset. What if someone else receives my tickets and decided to use them.

“The lady from GOLDOC was just lovely, she was so apologetic. I think they’ve just stuffed the tickets in the wrong envelope.”

Opposition leader Deb Frecklington said it was “extremely concerning” to learn that Games tickets have been sent to the incorrect people.

“I feel for the people that have purchased these tickets, only to receive tickets that aren’t theirs in the mail,” Ms Frecklington told the Bulletin.

“I hope there aren’t multiple people turning up to events trying to sit in the same seat because of this latest mix-up.”

A GOLDOC spokesperson said: “GOLDOC’s official ticket agency ticketek advises that this inquiry was dealt with in February, whereafter correct tickets with new barcodes were reissued.

Games organisers last month admitted they had “proofed” and approved the mass release of opening ceremony tickets with the wrong day. About 14,000 of the 35,000 tickets sent out for the Wednesday, April 4, event had “Thursday” printed on them.
