Mum, son threatened with knife
A STRANGER and her fiveyear-old son were allegedly held at knifepoint when they tried to help a woman in Nerang when who had got out of a moving van which had slowed for an intersection.
New details of an alleged terrifying attack on Saturday have emerged after the man accused, Connor David Heidke, 19, appeared in Southport Magistrates Court yesterday.
Heidke, wearing a white smock, cried throughout the brief appearance and made no application for bail.
He is charged with deprivation of liberty, making threats and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
Police will allege Heidke and his partner went for a drive after a fight and Heidke became agitated. The woman asked for him to stop and got out when he slowed down.
A woman driving nearby with her young son in the back told Heidke’s partner to get into the passenger side.
Police will allege Heidke rammed the car three times. He allegedly ran to the driver’s side before pulling a knife when the woman stopped, threatening her through the window.
“Get out of the (expletive) car or I will kill you,” he allegedly said. “I will kill your kid and then will kill you.”
It will be alleged Heidke pulled his partner out of the car and dragged her into the van. Heidke and his partner were later found at his home.
Defence lawyer Jodi Allen, of Buckland Allen Lawyers, said Heidke will undergo a mental health assessment. The matter was adjourned to March 13.
