THE WHOLE KITTIE AND CABOODLE

- AMANDA ROBBEMOND

THESE cool cats are so popular their fans demanded a line of merchandise.

And owner Robert Dollwet delivered.

Fans of Gold Coast-based purr-kour extraordinaires and YouTube hits Didga, 6, and Boomer, 2, are buying up to 20 T-shirts a week from Mr Dollwet’s online shop.

“We have shirts, mugs, posters, stickers,” he said. “We will see about a pillow or tote bags or an iPhone case (in the future). We have a cat calendar coming out next year.”

Any profits go back into cat rescue efforts, including looking after and feeding the cats and kittens Mr Dollwet regularly fosters.

“We just started really slow, now we have enough (merchandise) on the page and have a variety of things,” he said. “Women are the main demographic for us, we obviously have items for them.”

Didga the rescue tabby was thrust into stardom after Mr Dollwet filmed a video of her escaping from a dog by jumping on to a surfboard in a pool in 2012.

She also claimed the 2016 Guinness World Record for most tricks performed by a cat in one minute, with 20 moves.

Joined by her adopted brother Boomer, the pair can often be found wandering the streets of the southern Gold Coast with Mr Dollwet riding skateboards, going for a swim or walking on a leash.

Their video compilations on YouTube channel and Facebook page Catmantoo have been seen more than 80 million times, Mr Dollwet said.
