Women key to success
QUEENSLAND’S aim of becoming a world leader in advanced manufacturing is threatened by a lack of women.
“Despite countless programs and good intentions, the female proportion of the manufacturing workforce has been stuck in the 25 to 28 per cent zone for the past three decades,” Australian Industry Group Shane Rodgers said.
The Queensland Government estimates the growth of hi-tech advanced manufacturing could add $7 billion to the economy and create 11,700 new jobs over the next decade.
