STARS TO MEET ON THE WRESTLING MAT

THE sport of wrestling could provide one of the most entertaining spectacles at GC2018 with a host of stars set for action at the Carrara Sports and Leisure Centre from April 12-14.

Australia’s first UFC champion Robert Whittaker was selected last week to contest his first Commonwealth Games in the men’s 97kg division on the Friday.

In the same division will be Scotland’s Joe Hendry who, like Whittaker, has reverted to freestyle wrestling in pursuit of a gold medal dream.

Hendry is better known as ”The Prestigious One” on the UK’s wrestling scene.

Olympic gold medallist Erica Weibe from Canada is one of the highest credentialed wrestlers coming to the Gold Coast and will feature on the Thursday in the women’s 76kg division.

Canada will be a force in the wrestling competition along with other powerhouse nations India and Nigeria.
