Borrello left out of squad

FORMER Brisbane Roar star Brandon Borrello’s World Cup selection hopes have faded after he was a surprise omission from Australia’s 29man preliminary squad for this month’s friendlies against Norway and Colombia.

While Sydney FC’s Bundaberg product Josh Brillante earnt a deserved recall, Borrello missed out despite his fantastic form for German second division club Kaiserslautern.

The winger, 22, has scored three goals in his past four matches.
