Stajcic eyes bigger prize

THE cloud was missing out on a final by two goals but the silver lining for Matildas coach Alen Stajcic was adding another layer of experience to his squad ahead of the Asian Cup.

Australia’s 2-0 win over China yesterday in the Algarve Cup needed to be doubled to take them to the final. Instead the face hosts Portugal tomorrow in the third-place playoff.

Stajcic hinted at several changes, for what he dubbed “the final audition” before he picks the squad to play in the Asian Cup next month.
