FATHERHOOD HELPING HALL’S FOOTY

- TOM BOSWELL

SUNS midfielder Aaron Hall says the arrival of his first child has stimulated the personal growth that has him ready to reach career-best form in 2018.

Hall’s partner Sophia Absalom had daughter Penelope Hall in late December and the ball carrier believes the life changes that have coincided with her birth are already translating into better footy.

The 27-year-old has battled between blistering form and a drop off that culminated in his axing from the senior side last season.

But Hall said the presence of his daughter has changed the way he looks at life and footy for the better.

“Having a baby it does put a lot of things into perspective,” Hall said.

“You forget about the small things and things that are really irrelevant in life.

“It’s been great having her there. When you have an ordinary day or ordinary training session or game you go home and you are still No.1 in her eyes.

“I have definitely grown as a man and as a leader and I’m looking forward to take that on to the footy field in 2018.”

Hall kicked two goals and collected 17 disposals in Gold Coast’s 56-point JLT Community Series win over Geelong on Sunday.

Suns co-captain Tom Lynch is one of the highest profile players off contract in 2018 but Hall’s own deal is also coming to an end.

Hall said he had put contract talks on the backburner while he focused on his growing family.

“I’ve had a lot going on in my life,” he said. “I’ve decided to just focus on that.

“With a newborn, the first one, I’m wanting to make sure I’m at home doing as much as I can as well as getting the most out of my footy.

“For now I’m happy just focusing on being at home.”
