AFP probes IT workers

TWO Bureau of Meteorology employees are believed to be at the centre of an Australian Federal Police probe for allegedly mining cryptocurrencies using the organisation’s powerful computers.

Police confirmed officers raided a business premises at Docklands in Melbourne on February 28.

Two IT workers at the bureau were questioned over allegedly running an elaborate operation involving the use of the organisation’s computers to mine cryptocurrencies, the ABC reported yesterday.
