JACKS SCHOOLING UP IN MASSIVE NUMBERS

-

HERE is a photo to put a smile on the face of every Gold Coast angler.

Local diver Ian Banks spotted this massive school of mangrove jacks in the Southport Seaway last week.

It always surprises me how few fishermen dive, as it is a great way to see first hand what is on offer in the Seaway.

Ian dives every day and charts his observations on his facebook page Dive the Gold Coast.

Many fishermen are targeting jacks in the Nerang River at the moment but after this photo it is definitely worth dropping a live bait along the rock wall in the Seaway too.

Along with this school he also spotted massive schools of jewfish on the southern wall near the tower.

Unfortunately one thing he always encounters is discarded tackle from fishermen.

It not only pollutes the Seaway but is also very harmful to sea life so a friendly reminder to keep your garbage in the boat and not throw it overboard.
