MooGoo naturally keen on NZ market
GOLD Coast skincare company MooGoo hopes a new distribution deal with a New Zealand wholesaler leads to major sales across the ditch.
It follows the Burleigh Heads-based company being swamped by orders after a stunning before-and-after success story was picked up by British newspapers.
MooGoo has signed with ANZ Pharma, a leading distributor/wholesaler of pharmaceutical, medical and healthcare products in New Zealand and the Pacific region.
The contract, expected to generate annual sales in excess of $1 million, comes hot on the heels of a recent $100,000 deal with South Korean pharmaceutical giant Green Cross.
Founder Craig Jones said the company currently does not have a significant presence in New Zealand.
“We primarily export to the United Kingdom and we are especially big in Ireland.
“At the moment we are only in eight stores in New Zealand but we expect that to change very soon,” he said.
“We would like to see New Zealand become our second Ireland – similar population, similar temperature and environment, leading to similar skin conditions, especially eczema and dryness. We believe we have products that can help certain people experiencing such skin conditions.”
Mr Jones said MooGoo racks up $160,000 worth of retail sales in Ireland every six weeks.
“Given New Zealand has a similar population, I believe that is the potential once people across the country start to have easy access to our products.”
Two representatives from ANZ Pharma, a naturopath and product trainer, visited MooGoo this month in preparation for a full-scale distribution rollout across NZ over the next few months.
Mr Jones said he expected sales to grow significantly over the next 12 months given New Zealanders were enthusiastic consumers of natural products.
“New Zealanders are known worldwide for being an early adopter of natural products.”
Mr Jones started MooGoo after developing a cream in his Gold Coast kitchen after searching for a natural product to help his mother with her psoriasis.
The MooGoo Udder Cream has proven popular in the UK, particularly after “success stories” were publicised in the media.
They included the story of teacher Megan Underwood, 22, who suffered red, raw skin, which left her hospitalised and “looking like a burns victim”.
The woman endured years of painful and expensive treatment before trying MooGoo’s popular Udder Cream – which she said had transformed her life.
There are local success stories too.
Gold Coast nurse, Stephanie Waters, who works at Tugun’s John Flynn Hospital, credits MooGoo’s Eczema and Psoriasis cream, with curing her eczema.
“It’s amazing – the skin on my fingers has stopped peeling and my skin is kept very moist now,” she said.
